Alola

For clubs and hotels.

Alola brings a small group of the right guests to the best private courses and houses in Asia, and names the ones that welcome them. This is what we ask, what you receive, and what we never do.

Who our members are

Founders, owners and senior principals of their own businesses, most in their forties to sixties, every one with a home club of their own and every one vetted in person before joining: a member introduces them, they play a round with one of our committee and share a meal with a second member, and the committee votes.

They play regularly, travel often and well, and know how to be a guest at a good club. They book direct when they know where they are going, and they come back to a house that remembers them.

How a journey works

One a quarter, to a private course and a five-star stay. Eight to twelve members, two or three days, playing as the club's guests under its rules, with a table in the evening and a name at the club who knows ours.

Members book and pay the club, the hotel and any operator directly. Alola plans and hosts; it arranges nothing commercially and takes nothing. There is no third party in between, and nothing owed to anyone.

What we ask of a club

To host a journey, or in Singapore a round and a table for the vetting of candidates. Later, once the club has grown, reciprocal courtesy for members visiting on their own.

What we ask of a hotel

Your preferred terms for Alola members and their guests booking direct with you, on your dates and in your words, along with the small things a returning guest values: a named contact for our members, early or late where the house allows, a table that knows the name.

What a partner receives

  • A group of eight to twelve on each journey, booked direct, with no third party in between.
  • Members travelling on their own who choose a partner house or course first.
  • Your name on the Partners page every member sees in the Alola app, with your contact beside it, the day the arrangement is agreed.
  • A club whose people arrive on time, play fast, dress properly, thank the caddie by name, and behave. Our house rules say so, and members sign them every year.
  • Several of the dozen who came as a group come back on their own. That is the whole point, for both of us.

What Alola never does

  • Take a commission, a share or a referral payment from a partner. Members pay you; Alola is paid by its members and nobody else.
  • Package rooms, rounds or flights, or hold a member's money for you.
  • Put your terms, or any figure, in the app. Members are told you are a partner and whom to mention. The terms stay in our correspondence.
  • Bring a gaming or casino property into the club, under any name.
  • Send you anyone we have not met, played with and eaten with first.

To reply

Write to the chair. Twenty minutes by call or in person is all it takes to agree the shape of a first visit.
